Why Holistic?

Holistic Therapy – what does that mean?

Holistic in relation to your body defines the WHOLE body, the body as one, as opposed to separate parts. Holistic also refers to the different layers - the mind, the body and the soul.

Mind. Body. Soul.

Holistic Therapies work at every level where there is most need.  Sometimes we are not aware of our own needs, but the therapy’s own innate wisdom will know where it is needed to enable healing to take place, therefore holistic therapies treat your whole body rather than individual symptoms and are an effective form of preventative healthcare.  All complementary medicines are used to aid the body to return to a natural state of health and well being by helping the body to help itself and can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.

 Why am I feeling unwell?

Feeling unwell can be the result of something internal or external, but did you know that 75% of all health related problems are caused by stress?  A build up of stress, be it physical or mental stresses, tend to accumulate leading to a breakdown in the body’s natural rhythm, causing weaknesses, which in turn have a knock-on effect to the organs and systems of the body.  We have to remember that the body works as a whole unit, not as individual organs and systems.  A build up of tension in a muscle can lead to pain in that immediate area, however, pain may also be felt elsewhere – shoulder and neck tension often leads to headaches.

Other forms of illness may be due to a genetic problem, something we were born with.  Mostly we have to live with these conditions, but thankfully conventional medicine can go a long way to helping with symptoms.  Complimentary medicine also has a hand in helping with symptoms of genetic disorders – it’s a matter of finding the right therapy for your body’s needs.

General

All therapies are great for relaxation and even for that extra special pampering, but for more acute conditions a more serious approach must be taken.  Each therapy has its own attributes to help … given time … miracles can happen, but usually, given every day stresses and the pace of life today, any condition will take time to clear.  It is therefore recommended that any one wishing to receive therapy for a particular condition should consider a course of therapy – this can be discussed at the first session, once the therapist has all your medical and lifestyle history.
