Daoyin Tao

What is Daoyin Tao?

This is a new therapy – pronounced Dow Yin Tow – a synergy of ancient Chinese and modern Western massage techniques, harmoniously blended to create a widely applicable method which releases trapped and stagnant energy, thus allowing the body to begin the process of healing itself from within, often at the deepest levels.

A Brief History of Daoyin Tao

This new therapy was originated and developed by Anna-Louise Haigh who used a wide variety of skills drawn from learning in Chinese hospitals and clinics and also on her 14 years’ experience as a complementary healthcare practitioner, teacher, lecturer and writer. The original skills on which DYT is based, are stilled practiced in clinics and hospitals throughout China today. Anna-Louise Haigh adapted these skills to suit the Western preference and create a more gentle flowing massage.

How does Daoyin Tao work?

DYT utilises energy healing therapy, focusing on head, neck and shoulders - working on key meridians which, in turn, have a therapeutic effect on other parts of the body, during and following a treatment.  DYT is a very powerful combination of techniques.

Are there any side effects to Daoyin Tao?

DYT has very few contraindications. Most people feel a wonderful sense of deep relaxation during and following the treatment.

What’s in a typical session?

Following a consultation during which a full medical and lifestyle history will be taken, Daoyin Tao itself only takes half an hour.  You will be lying down with your head and shoulders slightly raised.  Clothing will need to be removed to allow access to the skin on the shoulders and neck.  Ladies may keep their bra on – the straps can be easily lowered off the shoulder.  An initial relaxation massage followed by the therapy itself – all over too quickly, but with the healing power of Daoyin Tao any longer would be too much for your body to cope with in any one sitting.  Daoyin Tao may be applied as a stand-alone therapy or in combination with other therapies.
